Hi! I'm Anaya, a London-based film-maker about to graduate from UWE with a Bachelor in animation. I create films with a focus on my Syrian heritage and exploring the way people think and live. I aim to continue making films that highlight the lives of people I care about and create conversations between myself and my audience. I'd really like to improve my skills in drawing, my conversational Arabic and using my own historical and anthropological research to inform the creation of my films. 

 

I'm experienced in traditional 2D and top-down stop motion animation,  with some ability in Maya and some musical capabilities.

My next goal is to create a narrative focused film that follows on from 'Beit Zabbai'. Having improved my skills in drawing and animating visually, I'd like to now focus on creating a story that resonates with an audience and brings the inner lives of my characters to the screen, with the lack of context being the biggest hold-back for my graduate film. As well as this, I hope to visit my ancestral homeland of Syria, draw on from it's landscapes and learn from fellow Syrians to create media that amplifies their voices in a world where their lives are completely dictated by the foreign politics of world powers.
